  Workshop for Mothers

Who am I as a Mother?

The development of every child begins with conception. Children are highly dependent on each of their caregivers to provide the best possible environment for growth. In particular, a child's existential need to be loved and wanted by its mother, and its utter dependency on her ability to tune into to its physical and emotional needs make early experiences crucial for healthy development and will later determine much of life as an adult.

Unresolved trauma in the family system manifests in children in a variety of ways, such as through behavioral problems, physical symptoms or recurring conflicts in relations with others.

Traumatizing childhood experiences can seem subtle and are often overlooked. They alter our perception and inhibit our ability to distinguish between loving and damaging behavior. Perception of what is beneficial to a child's development is distorted by early trauma, and what society regards as "normal" interaction with children does not necessarily correspond with their true needs.

IoPT demonstrates that children can benefit when their mothers take their own childhood experiences seriously and address their trauma. By becoming aware of our survival strategies, we enable ourselves to see our children as they truly are, with their own needs and their own feelings. Instead of labeling them as the  "problem", we can recognize their symptoms as an expression of their deep need for connection with us. And by accepting ourselves as the victims we were as children, we become more sensitive to our own children. We then also realize that love is not an abstract concept, but rather a state expressed specifically through how we interact with our children.

The group for mothers offers a safe space for participants to explore their psyche using the intention method. The age of your children is irrelevant (child to adult). Motherhood begins with pregancy!

The sessions take place online.
